Abstract

Healthcare professionals are required not only to have clinical competence but also to apply professional ethics and health law principles in healthcare services. Health students as future professionals need adequate ethical knowledge and legal awareness to develop professional behavior during clinical practice. This study aimed to determine the relationship between professional ethics knowledge and health law awareness with professional behavior among health students in clinical practice. This study employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 60 health students at STIKes Assyifa selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires measuring professional ethics knowledge, health law awareness, and professional behavior. Data analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test with a significance level of p<0.05. The results showed that most students had good professional ethics knowledge (70.0%), high health law awareness (66.7%), and good professional behavior (75.0%). There was a significant relationship between professional ethics knowledge and students’ professional behavior (p=0.001). Furthermore, health law awareness was significantly associated with professional behavior (p=0.002). Professional ethics knowledge and health law awareness are associated with professional behavior among health students in clinical practice. Strengthening ethics and health law education is essential to develop competent, ethical, and professionally responsible future healthcare providers
