Sosialisasi Gema Cermat Pada Pasien Rawat Jalan Di Rumah Sakit Umum Mitra Medika Medan Tahun 2025

Abstract

The implementation of the Gema Cermat (Smart Drug Awareness Movement) program needs to be applied to prevent medication misuse, which can have fatal consequences for human health. More than 50% of drugs worldwide are prescribed and used inappropriately or irrationally. The aim of this community service activity is to increase the knowledge of outpatients at Mitra Medika General Hospital in Medan through outreach and education on rational drug use as a form of implementing the Gema Cermat Program in the hospital. This activity is carried out by lecturers from the Helvetia Institute of Health, Medan. The method used to improve knowledge includes outreach/workshops using lectures, discussions, and guidance methods. Topics include types of drugs, drug dosage forms, how to use medications properly, how to store and dispose of unused or expired medications, and the ability to apply and assist the community, especially in how to obtain, use, store, and dispose of medications correctly and safely. Through this Gema Cermat program, outpatients are expected to understand the types of medications, their proper usage, storage, and disposal. The results and conclusion of this community service activity show that it was successfully implemented and received positive responses and enthusiastic participation from attendees, who actively asked questions about rational drug use.
