Abstract

Pancasila is both the foundation of the state and the national ideology that underpins Indonesian national life. This article explains the position of Pancasila as the state foundation, its historical, juridical, and philosophical bases, its function in the national legal system, and the challenges of its implementation. Using a qualitative literature study, the article finds that Pancasila emerged from the deliberations of BPUPKI and PPKI, holds a juridical position as the source of all sources of state law, and functions as a fundamental norm, a way of life, and a unifying force. Globalization, intolerance, and weakening value internalization among young people remain key challenges. Pancasila education, exemplary conduct by state officials, and fair law enforcement are essential to its practice.
