Penerapan Nilai Keadilan Sosial dalam Kehidupan Mahasiswa

Abstract

Social justice is one of the important values in Pancasila, especially the fifth precept which reads "Social Justice for All Indonesian People". This value needs to be applied in various aspects of life, including in the higher education environment. Students as part of the younger generation have an important role in applying the value of social justice through mutual respect, not discriminating against friends based on economic conditions, providing equal opportunities in academic and organizational activities, and helping students who experience difficulties. This article aims to find out the application of social justice values in student life and analyze the problem of justice in access to education based on news published in the mass media. One of the news analyzed is the news about prospective students who have been accepted to state universities but are threatened with not being able to continue their education due to cost constraints and problems in the education aid process. The news shows that social justice in education is not only related to the opportunity to be accepted into higher education, but also related to the ability of students to obtain and maintain access to education fairly. Through the application of social justice values, students are expected to be able to build a more fair, caring, and non-discriminatory campus environment.
