Abstract

Social justice for all Indonesian people is a national ideal formulated in the fifth principle of Pancasila. This study aims to describe community perceptions of equal rights and treatment, educational opportunities, experiences of injustice, and the practice of the fifth principle in everyday life. A descriptive qualitative approach was used, with primary data collected through interviews with three community informants and analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that (1) the equitable realization of rights is perceived to depend heavily on the capacity and commitment of regional heads, although central government directives are considered uniform; (2) government educational assistance is felt by families classified in the fourth decile; (3) injustice is still perceived, mainly in the form of economic disparity, limited employment opportunities, and the influence of rank and position; and (4) practicing the fifth principle is understood as a shared responsibility that begins with self-reflection and the wise use of assistance. These findings point to the need to strengthen regional governance, improve the accuracy and oversight of aid distribution, and encourage responsible citizen participation.
