Efektivitas Terapi Microcurrent Terhadap Penurunan Intensitas Nyeri dan Peningkatan Fleksibilitas pada Pasien Low Back Pain di Klinik Fisioterapi Siti Hajar Medan

Low Back Pain (LBP) is one of the most prevalent musculoskeletal disorders worldwide, imposing a substantial burden on individual productivity and quality of life. This study aimed to comprehensively evaluate the effectiveness of Microcurrent Electrical Neuromuscular Stimulation (MENS) in reducing pain intensity and improving lumbar flexibility among patients with Low Back Pain treated at the Siti Hajar Physiotherapy Clinic, Medan. A quantitative experimental study was conducted using a pretest–posttest control group design. Pain intensity was assessed using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS), while lumbar flexibility was measured using the Modified Schober Test (MST). Statistical analyses were performed using the Paired Sample t-test to examine within-group differences and the Independent Sample t-test to compare outcomes between the treatment and control groups. The results demonstrated a statistically significant reduction in pain intensity (p < 0.001) and a significant improvement in lumbar flexibility (p < 0.001) in the intervention group receiving microcurrent therapy compared with the control group receiving conventional physiotherapy alone. These findings indicate that microcurrent therapy is an effective non-invasive intervention for reducing pain and enhancing lumbar flexibility in patients with Low Back Pain. Therefore, Microcurrent Electrical Neuromuscular Stimulation (MENS) is recommended as an evidence-based therapeutic modality in the physiotherapeutic management of Low Back Pain.
