Abstract

Burnout is a syndrome resulting from chronic workplace stress that is commonly experienced by healthcare professionals, including physiotherapists. The Job Demands–Resources (JD-R) approach is used to describe the balance between job demands and job resources that influence burnout. This study aimed to describe the burnout profile of physiotherapists based on the JD-R approach at Siti Hajar Health Care Medan. This study employed a quantitative descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of six physiotherapists selected using a total sampling technique. Data were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that most respondents experienced moderate burnout (5 respondents; 83.3%), while 1 respondent (16.7%) experienced low burnout, and no respondents experienced high burnout. The Emotional Exhaustion dimension had the highest mean score. The average Job Demands score was in the moderate category, while Job Resources were in the good category. In conclusion, most physiotherapists experienced moderate burnout, indicating that the available job resources were sufficient to balance job demands and help prevent more severe burnout.
