Pengaruh Penyuluhan Menggunakan Media Audio Visual (Video) Tentang Bahaya Narkoba Terhadap Pengetahuan dan Sikap Siswa Kelas VII SMP Swasta Era Ibang Medan

Abstract

Drugs are basically psychotropic substances used in the medical field, for example as anesthetics during surgery or therapy of certain diseases. However, perceptions of drugs have diverged due to abuse outside of the proper purpose and dosage. The results of the preliminary study show the influence of counseling on drugs on the improvement of knowledge and attitudes of class adolescents where one of the educational media that is considered interesting and varied in conveying information is electronic media in the form of films or videos. This study aims to analyze the effect of counseling using audio-visual media on the knowledge and attitudes of grade VII students of Era Ibang Private Junior High School in Medan regarding the dangers of drugs. The research method used was pre-experimental with a one group pretest–posttest design. The research population included all grade VII students with a total sampling technique, so that 46 respondents were obtained. The results showed that there was a significant difference between the level of knowledge and students' attitudes before and after the intervention. The t-test on the pre-test and post-test data yielded a significance value of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05). It can be concluded that counseling through audio-visual media is effective in increasing students' knowledge and attitudes towards the dangers of drugs. Schools are advised to be more active in organizing similar activities on a regular basis as an effort to prevent drug abuse among students.
