Abstract

Vertical jump ability is a critical biomotor component in volleyball, essential for optimizing smash and block execution. This study aims to analyze the effect of plyometric depth jump training on improving vertical jump performance among volleyball players at Dishub GOR Bumi Sejahtera Pekanbaru. A quantitative quasi-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test approach was utilized. The study involved 20 male volleyball players aged 18–23 years selected via total sampling. Vertical jump height was measured using the Sargent Jump Test before and after a 4-week depth jump intervention from a 40-cm box, performed 3 times weekly (10 repetitions, 4 sets). Normality and homogeneity tests confirmed normal data distribution (Shapiro-Wilk, p > 0.05) and variance equality (p > 0.05). Bivariate analysis using the Paired Sample t-Test revealed a significant increase in mean vertical jump score from 46.63 cm at pre-test to 53.75 cm at post-test with a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). In conclusion, plyometric depth jump training significantly enhances vertical jump height in volleyball player.
